A Lenten Devotional, Day 44: Maundy Thursday

This season, we’re blessed with a set of Lenten devotionals by contributing author Lee Hinkle.  Find out more about Lee at the bottom of this article, or at hinkledownunder.com.

Meditation

The reading is following because this meditation is more of an introduction.

These are the words that Jesus was speaking to His disciples as they were moving to the garden. There are many promises in this passage. There are many warnings in the passage. It is a reminder for us that following Jesus is not a call to the safest place, but one to the surest place. “But take heart, I have overcome the world.”

Prayer

Thank you Jesus for loving us and dying for us. Thank you for being the Truth. Thank you for the comfort of the Spirit. Thank you for making us yours. Amen.

Reading

John 14-16 (ESV)

Lenten Action

Rest in the promise and Truth that Jesus has overcome and that we have a peace beyond measure. Rest in the Truth that we have a Comforter and we are His friends.
