My soul magnifies the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
In our distress, we called upon the Lord;
to our God we cried for help.
From His temple He heard our voice,
and our cry reached His ears.
Thus the earth reels and rocks;
the foundations of the mountains tremble.
The Most High utters his voice,
a sign for our salvation:
The virgin will conceive and give birth,
and will call her son Immanuel.
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us,
and we have seen His glory,
we have felt His voice,
He saved us,
not because of the righteous things we have done,
but because of His mercy.
The King has come to earth, in His strength and mercy;
He has brought down the mighty from their thrones
and exalted those of humble estate;
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich He has sent away empty.
He has helped His servant in remembrance of His mercy!
My soul magnifies the Lord,
because He has humbled Himself for my soul.
